Real Life police stories of my life as Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer.

Welcome message for MountieStories.com featuring bold text and a graphic element.
A life time of stories.

I’m Shane Tuckey, a retired Staff Sergeant from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I have been writing short stories for over ten years.

For more than three decades, my career spanned across general uniform policing, national security, organized crime, drug enforcement, and undercover investigations. My career in the RCMP began in Ontario, and continued in the Vancouver area. Ultimately I was posted overseas, working throughout Southeast Asia. I spent five years based at the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi, India, serving as a diplomat and Canada’s Police Liaison Officer.

While posted abroad, my area of responsibility covered six countries: India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal and Bangladesh. During this time, I travelled frequently dealing with matters related to law enforcement and national security.

My final year abroad focused on developing and delivering law enforcement training at the Jakarta Centre for Law Enforcement Cooperation in Indonesia.

These are real stories from my life in the RCMP.

Some names and locations have been changed to protect people’s privacy. The memories are mine to share.

A career shaped by investigations large and small took me, from the bombing of Air India flight 182 in 1985 which killed 329 people mostly Canadians to terrorist attacks overseas.

In the mid 1990s I worked undercover on the streets of Vancouver which provided me insight into a world not seen by most.

In 2008 ten terrorists roamed the streets of Mumbai killing over 170 citizens. I was Canada’s only police officer on the ground and at the scene. Two Canadians were among the dead. With every shot and every blast that I heard, I visualized another innocent life lost.

As I write these stories I often pause to reflect on the lives lost and the profound impact these moments have had on me and my family.

I offer these stories as a window into my life of policing.

Below are two free short stories from my experiences as a police officer. If you like what you are reading then hit the subscribe button to receive my future short stories along with updates on my upcoming crime thriller, delivered directly to your inbox.
